Swiss Tunnel Congress 2026

16-18, June 2026 | Lucerne

Swiss Tunnel Congress (STC)

The Swiss Tunnelling Society (STS) has been organizing the Swiss Tunnel Congress (STC) since 2006. In recent years, the STC has established itself as the leading congress for tunneling professionals in Switzerland. The congress originally evolved from the AlpTransit conferences.

On average, approximately 800 experts from over 10 nations attend the STC to experience high-quality technical presentations. Additionally, the event traditionally features excursions to major do-mestic tunnel construction sites.

Building on its past success, the STS is gradually further developing the Swiss Tunnel Congress (STC). In recent years, the range of topics for lectures and excursions has been broadened beyond base tunnels. To further increase the attractiveness of the STC for visitors, an Advisory Board was founded at the STC 2008, and the Swiss Tunnel Colloquium was introduced.

Since 2008, a half-day colloquium has been held on the day before the main congress. The Swiss Tunnel Colloquium is organized by the STS Committee in collaboration with the STS young members (STSym). The colloquium examines a specific topic from the perspective of various stakeholders (owners, planners, contractors, industry, and universities). Through this, the STS aims to provide the industry with an opportunity to present itself to a wide audience. The presentations at the Swiss Tun-nel Colloquium follow a specific lead theme each year.

Since 2024, the STC is no longer held annually but only in even-numbered years. In odd-numbered years, the Swiss Tunnel Day (STDay) takes place.

Swiss Tunnel Day (STDay)

In 2025, a one-day event, the Swiss Tunnel Day (STDay), was launched, which takes place in odd-numbered years. The STDay is held in a congress format that allows visitors to stay informed about the latest developments in tunneling within a single day. It is guaranteed that the quality of the presen-tations remains at the same high level as those at the STC. Visitors naturally also have the opportunity to establish new contacts and reunite with old acquaintances. Furthermore, the exhibition by our sponsors allows for direct exchange with individual companies. The STDay is thus a compact event full of opportunities to gain new knowledge and network with all stakeholders in the tunneling industry.
