Instruction

The Swiss Tunnelling Society (STS) actively supports training at the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology and engineering universities. Some STS members, who all work as engineers, teach at these universities. This allows students to benefit from concrete and practical experience when it comes to the use of underground space and the construction of tunnels and caverns.

Underground construction and geotechnics offer exciting challenges for passionate people who are not afraid to tackle complex problems for which there are often various possible solutions. The diversity of geology makes the profession of specialist engineer for underground construction extremely varied and interesting, but also intellectually demanding. In addition, the demands on mobility and personal flexibility should not be underestimated.
